Explore 800 years of Amsterdam's history through highly detailed miniatures.
Begin with the origins of Amsterdam in the 13th century, followed by a scale model of Dam Square from 1675.
Next, progress through scenes such as the Red Light District in the 1990s, the Zaanse Schans with functional windmills, and a depiction of the Canal Parade along the city's waterways.
Video screens and audio provide more information about each setting. Some scenes depict significant events, such as the Nieuwmarkt during World War II, complete with miniature barbed wire around the square, and a scale model of the Anne Frank House.
Additional exhibits include a dollhouse-style Rembrandt House and a detailed 17th-century Dutch ship.
