They don't call Aveiro the "Venice of Portugal" for no reason – book tickets for an Aveiro gondola ride through the canals of this alluring Portuguese city and find out why!
Within a short distance of nearby Porto, your Aveiro day trip starts with a guided tour of the city center, where Art Nouveau design is on full display.
After your city tour, become the main character in a *fado* song and drift on a moliceiro boat cruise through the charming canals of Aveiro. Guided by a local captain, you'll learn about the maritime history of the fishing village and the original use of the moliceiro boat: to collect seaweed to harvest *flor de sal*. After your boat tour, look for a jar of *flor de sal* at the boutique shops in town as a tasty souvenir.
