If you think modern chefs have it tough, try feeding the royal people and the court at the 16th-century Royal Palace of Madrid!
Put yourself in the hopefully-non-slip-shoes of the Senior Cook on this fascinating tour into the Palace's Royal Kitchen. As the copper shines in every direction, stroll from room to room and imagine it back in the day, when steam curled up into those dramatically high ceilings, women prepped food at enormously long tables, and gossip filled the air!
Your guide will not only point out where the pots and pans were kept, but you'll get insider secrets as to who ate what, and who was vegan (just kidding).
Imagine the bubbling pots, the red-hot hot plates, and the dumbwaiters brimming with heaped plates as you stroll around this hub of the highest of high-end cuisine. This place even boasted the best mod-con of its time - a refrigerator!
You can tour the Royal Palace Madrid before or after your kitchen visit - entry is included in the ticket.
